THE GLOBAL SHORELINES PROJECT

It is so easy to contribute an image. Go down to the shoreline at your nearest coast, or on your holiday/ trip/ expedition. Look for something interesting in regard to texture, colour, movement, flora, fauna, wave erosion, etc…..and take a photograph to share to the Global Shorelines project. That’ it!

You do not need to be a photographer, you just need to be interested in the coast and willing to look. Almost everyone has access to a smartphone camera and therefore the ability to record the natural world on their travels.

Aim to catch about 50/50 sea and land in your photograph, so that you can show that transition point at the coastline you are visiting.

Perhaps you could use your photographs to stimulate some artwork; as I have done.

There is no prize. This is not a competition. The hope is to build a catalogue of beautiful imagery, which can be used to demonstrate the importance of marine conservation. Perhaps you could combine your trip to the shoreline with a few minutes beach cleaning?

THE Mission

It’s all very simple! Calling all dog walkers, ramblers, runners, beach cleaners, bird watchers, rock poolers, surfers, canoeists, artists, swimmers, sailors, travellers and beach lovers…….get your camera or smartphone out and capture something wonderful by the shoreline.

Marine ecology and conservation is vitally important across the entire planet. Hence the project title ‘Global Shorelines’. From our small starting point in the UK, the hope is to extend this project across the globe, with contributions from all over the world and also live events in many countries.

This project is not for personal profit. All contributors are asked to licence an image for free use by the project, to support marine conservation work.

Experience the coast

Take a walk by the shoreline, but remember to bring your camera, smartphone or sketchbook.

It does not matter who you are or what you do. You just need to share a love of the sea. Capture the essence of your experience by the shoreline with a photograph or drawing/painting/print. Use the contacts page to send a message and arrange to share your work in a digital file.

Please note: by sharing an image with globalshorelines.com you are giving permission for the digital image to be used under license, solely for the purposes of the Global Shorelines not-for-personal-profit project. See contacts page for full terms & condition’s.
